Ever heard of a white sand beach (real one) in Zambales? Well, you will, now! I am talking about Potipot Island, a small island found in Candelaria, Zambales.
Philippines is really a great place to be for beaches! Saying that with conviction! hehe, not that because i have been to other countries, hehe, wala lang, that’s what you call loving your own!
The trip to Potipot was initially unplanned, a last minute decision, but that’s life, full of surprises, you wouldnt know where it will lead you. It took us 7 hours to reach the place - from manila. We took the new road going to subic, thats SCTEX (Subic Clark Tarlac Expressway), since its new, we rarely see other cars and maybe because we travelled on a weekday morning. The trip has been a quite long one as our car is not exactly in its right condition, so we have to bear with it. Upon reaching Candelaria, that i guess the 14th municipality from subic, we first went to check the Isla Vista Resort, aside from being unaccommodating of the receptionist, we sort of dont like the resort as a whole, we then went to check DAWAL (www.dawal.com.ph), the resort is very good and with very friendly and accommodating staffs. Their rates were lower than Isla Vista. Lucky for us we were able to get rooms and had checked early.
Potipot Island is a 3-minute boat ride from the resort and you can actually see it. The boat costs P400 and that already is a two way fare and good for 7 persons. Since the island is privately owned (lucky owner), they require visitors to pay an entrance fee of P50/pax. They have tents there for the visitors (w/out xtra cost). You can bring your own food in the island, and they have a mini sari sari store that is priced reasonably.
The beach has white sand, not the type that Boracay has, but just the same, the swimming experience is great. No waves, it seems a large swimming pool with very clear water and a very good sky. All in all, we had a great trip and treat in this beach!
