A Hundred Reasons to Visit Hundred Islands

A date was set on May 16, 2008, a month before such date, we have planned the group’s (PM/Learning) escapade. Unfortunately, the date coincides with the Company’s outing in Camayan Beach Resort in Subic. Nonetheless, the group decided to push through with the initial plan. We planned to leave Manila at 11oclock in the evening. Come the date May 16, we joined the Company outing and on our way back to Manila at around 7pm, we received a call from one of the group’s leader that the trip is cancelled due to the approaching typhoon in Pangasinan. What a heck of a night, the exitement had faded, the disappointments had surfaced. But lucky for us that we cancelled the trip as on the next day, the typhoon did hit Pangasinan and had left quite a damage in the province. We then decided to set another schedule, and that is June 6 of this year!

June 6, Friday, our group (in two cars) travelled at nighttime and spent 5 hours on the road going to Lucap, Pangasinan. We were glad that the house we booked in Manila (through the internet, MK Transient House) is great, i could say that it is, and is near the Lucap Wharf, where we will be taking off aboard a banca to experience the Hundred Islands!

We rented a banca good for 10 people and costs us P1,800, and that gives us unlimited use of the banca for a day and gives us the right to visit any island we wish to touch. :D

Aboard the rented banca, the exitement in everyone is sooo high that when we’re nearing the place of attraction, everyone’s busy taking pictures and videos! All of us were shouting and soo happy, so delighted with the another wonder of nature!

First stop was the Governor’s Island, said to be the highest among the other islets and hiking on top of Governor’s will give you an overwhelming view of all the hundred islands, and adding to the attraction is the “Bahay ni Kuya” of the Pinoy Big Brother. And it really made me smile thinking that despite of the time of the year (hey its June, summer had just ended), still, a lot of tourists and visitors (like us) were there to visit and savor the beauty of this Nature!

After all the poses and laughters, we proceeded to the next stop, Quezon Island, said to be the better place for swimming, we rented a nipa hut with a room for only P500 and before we rush to the water we first ate our lunch. After the noontime meal, everyone in the group rushed to feel the water, except me, i felt so tired and sleepy that i really cannot fight it, so i denied myself with the first dip and had a good sleep! After 2 hrs of stay in Quezon island, we again moved out and this time instructed the bangkero to get us in islands with caves, which he did, and we sort of roamed the sea and feasts our eyes with other islets. As the exhaustion in each of us has settled, we decided to seize our way in our last stop, the Children’s island, called Children’s as the water level here is more shallow and is safe for children to swim and play. It is only in this island that i had my first and last dip as after this we decided to go back in the wharf. It is also in Children’s Island that sir Noel lost his precious havaianas slippers ;) bought less than a month ago. All islands that we visited had white sands and very clear water.

The natives that we have chatted there were so friendly and hospitable. Another good treat from this trip!

    Hi Majal

Good to see you on blog and thanks for featuring my website on the sides.

I haven’t been to hundred islands before but with the hundred reasons to go I’m now interested. I remember in 2001 when we were reviewing for the cpa board exams we went to visit the Manaoag Church. We were thinking of going straight to the hundred islands because it’s only around 2 hours away from there. But time and money was so precious during that time so we decided to just go back to Manila.
